Yard Punks: Go Outside and Play with Cling Wrap!
When it’s wet and cold out, it might seem like playing outside can just wait for nicer days. Of course we all know that kids (as well as their caretakers) need that fresh air and sunlight, even when it’s entirely inconvenient.
Here’s an idea for playing outside that checks off a lot of boxes; just wrap your kids in cling wrap (it’s inexpensive, accessible and it keeps them warm & dry) and let them bop into each other. They will “cling” to each other a little, they have fun winding and unwinding, and the cling film can then be wound back up and used again and again.
Winter coats serve as extra buffer/protection!
I love that siblings can work out alliances/grievances this way….Why not??
You may ask yourself, “is cling film really the most eco friendly material for this?” and here’s the deal, if you reuse it a few times, yes. Sure. It’s not awful. Could you use another material for this? Maybe not one as readily accessible.
(You definitely don’t want to be tying kids up with rope or anything, right?)
So cling wrap it is!
