Cheap and cute

I'm so ever-lovin' sick of Crocs...

That being said, I want these cheapies from Payless...

Different is good!

Super cute new Crocs

I'm sick of lookin' at everybody's Crocs. Even though I live in my Birkenstock Birkis that are similar (but with a much more European, gnome-like flair). But I have to admit that I will be wearing these come spring, if I can ever afford anything new after I get my car fixed...again...

Best garden hat yet

I've really been hard on hats- it's hard to work quickly and function AND answer a cell phone and battle the wind.. but of everything I've tried this lil' $6 beauty from Asianideas.com has really worked for me- and the style actually prevents bad cases of hat hair! If it gets bent out of shape a little I just dump some water on it and put it in the sun to dry... smells like hay too...
they have some other great ones too, like the famous foldable hat...

The Kneepaddiest!

So, yeah- here are these awesome work pants from Duluth Trading with built in knee pads- and 9 pockets!!

Aren't they bad ass? These pants say, "I can plant that container for you and then later... wanna go roller derby and crush the other garden center in town to pieces?"
They have some other excellent products but it's all a little granola for me... Actually, it reminds me of how Banana Republic used to be back in the day... Remember when there as, like, a Jeep sticking out of the wall and stuff?

I swear I'm going to start a garden clothing company

There isn't anything good out there. I'm happy with the wind-deadening, vintage shearling coat I got at the thrift store but it really leads me nowhere in a complimentary boot option!
No one makes anything cute. Everything makes me look like a baked potato on legs. Bigger than I really am, yes, I have lost 15 pounds... thank you!
I'm going to have to start sewing.

clog update

So, these are the wooden clogs I ended up getting. I have not gotten thick wool socks, as are recommended, to wear under them so my experience with them is limited. But, so far I really crack people up with them...

glamour in the garden

I have learned the hard way that low and very wide shoes are the best for not leaving marks in the garden. I leave heel indents in the soil whenever I hop in and I'm not wearing clogs... but these are very promising. Too cute and practical to not get. There are darling boots, too- but they aren't as unusual as the wedges are...
Keep up the waterproof thing, Tretorn. I have a hope of not looking like a compost heap every day after all...
And everyone is gonna have heel holes in their gardens...

the not-so-new gardening clog

ok, I am soooo going to lead a movement to bring these back in. Well, really I want to be the only one but I'll just share all this anyway. I think these wood clogs are just the most kick ass thing. Ok, for $40 you get something waterproof and "steel" toed while still being able to slip in and out, they look most excellent with stripey socks and I think the patina they would get with age would be lovely, a little mud, some grass stains... KoolAid, whatever. I don't have them now but I think I will buy them in the next month or so.
