What are these little guys springing up in my lawn? Apparently I don't know as much about bulbs as I though... I thought they were Scilla, but, um... nooooo...
Perhaps they are something old school??
1st person to name it will get the honor of me calling it by your first name for the rest of my life...
All the photos suck BUT you can click on them and see them larger if you want to..

Try Chionodoxa - I am not sure which as there are a few blue ones and the photo is a little fuzzy. It's a place to start though, happy hunting.
Nope, that's not it, it's smaller... and some of them are white! But we are getting closer!
I'll put a different photo up, that one does suck!
Too bad, I would have enjoyed calliong them Zoes!
hmmm, I'll try again , how about a Puschkinia? If not, Ill wait til you have a new photo or I have better eyes!
Nope, not that either, Much tinier. These are miniscule!
I added more photos.
Those are awesome suggestions though, I never even heard of Puschkinia!!
Ok, this will be my last guess - Ipheion uniflorum aka Tristagma uniflorum?
Or maybe a form of Lilyturf/Ophiopogon ?
All out of ideas now! Put me out my misery!
I admire your sticktoitiveness, Zoe. But I don't think so... I'm looking at Squill again...

Oh well, yonks since I did a plant ID test, it was good practice!
Amanda: Indeed, these plants are very, very "Old School", dating back to the 1600's. They are Scilla bifolia, characterized by an UPWARD-turning head and two leaves, hence the "bi" part of their name. Also, yours are mowed down by your mower, so they aren't as tall as normal. They occur in white, pink and blue and are naturally smaller than S. siberica. I have them everywhere at the cottage along with S.siberica. Now, do I have naming rights????
They will hencefore be known as "Bees" which will be very confusing, I was thinking about calling them "Misty of Chincoteagues" because I always really loved that book when I was a kid... Although I have to defend myself that indeed they have not been mowed down by my mower- we aren't like that and we don't plan to mow for awhile yet- at least not until thse lil' beauties die down!
