Historic moment in rock and roll history

We had to throw away our vacuum last week, it was all clogged up and we couldn't fix it.

That's when I blew coffee out my nose laughing and sayin' "yeah, it was never the same after I used it on Tom Petty's rugs"...

He was here in Chicago a few years ago for a couple days and they had a bunch of oriental rugs with giant balls of visible-from-stage rug fiber and dust. So naturally I suggested I bring in my vacuum to clean them up a bit. But the only time available between the soundcheck and the show was while people were filing in.

So I'm there in a full length apron over a goofy polyester dress and with slippers on, vacuuming while rabid fans stream in yelling "Hey vacuum lady!"

Yeah, a shining moment.

And they killed my vacuum.

But I have some super cool guitar picks though... I'd scan them but they are all packed up.

patio lanterns...

Check out these kick ass, solar, nylon lanterns! Argh! I can hardly get enough of them!

What a perfect product!

For some reason, I love slugs...

I have a history of banana slug torture. I know, but it's true. They used to come in on plant shipments from warmer climates and we'd salt them, or diatomaceous earth them... or just race them... Anyway, now they are a bit of a mascot for me...
not like at UC Santa Cruz though...
that's just weird...

Anyway check out this gummy slug! The web site has some verrrrrrry interesting slug facts!

the final countdown

Ok, it is the eve of our moving day. So far it is going a lot like the eve of our wedding day, I am frantic and Dan is napping.

Can 2 hardcore city people hack it in a tiny Indiana farming town? I love my new job, so that transition is practically seamless...
I'll still come into Chicago alllllll the time so what's the big deal?

I look forward to what comes next... I'm kinda sorta sure we aren't making a huge mistake...

2 great tastes that taste great together... Patricia Field and cheap shoes!

Can I be dreaming? NO? Patricia Field is going to have a line of shoes at Payless!
BTW, I want to look like Patricia Field when I grow up and so far Dan doesn't get it...

It's that time of the century again...

This year we'll be hosting the 17 year cicadas here in Illinois again... And my friend Bee tells me they make cicada jewelry...

And I'm all, "No!"

And she's all, "Yess!!"

It turns out that cicadas are a good luck symbol in France- where they must not have them or something because... ew!
And you can't tell them to shut up!

And the web site I got this lovely picture from has some lovely jewely- so go take a look...
